Outfit7 is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company's Interactive Media Group unit to produce an original animated web series featuring characters from the developer's Talking Friends mobile game franchise.

The web series will feature Outfit7 characters like Talking Tom Cat and Talking Ben the Dog and is slated to run across multiple platforms including the Disney.com website as well as Disney's new network on YouTube. Outfit7 will also enable mobile users to access the series through its catalog of mobile apps.

Outfit7 specializes in interactive virtual pet apps enabling users to record and share character-themed storytelling videos via YouTube, Facebook, email and MMS. Users have downloaded more than 390 million Talking Friends titles to date, and Outfit7 averages more than 35 million downloads per month. In addition, users have uploaded more than 750,000 Talking Friends videos to YouTube, with views topping 354 million.

Outfit7 CEO Andrej Nabergoj expressed his desire to build Disney-caliber franchises around the company's properties in an interview last year with sister publication FierceDeveloper. "We want to focus on key characters--we want to create tentpole characters and build a lot of stuff around them," Nabergoj said. "We like to think of this like what's Disney's done--we have a chance to create iconic characters that you and your kids are going to grow up with."

In July 2011, Outfit7 signed with talent agency William Morris Endeavor to fuel its efforts to expand beyond the mobile platform into film, television and books.
