Palm Pixi to feature new Facebook application
Palm announced the release of its second webOS-based smartphone the Pixi, promising enhanced messaging
and social networking features including a new Facebook application. Like its predecessor the Palm Pre, the Pixi will launch as a Sprint exclusive, and is scheduled for release in time for the 2009 holiday season--in addition to linking user information from Google and Exchange ActiveSync, the smartphone adds Yahoo and LinkedIn integration and assembles all the information in a single view. The Pixi will also offer Facebook integration with contacts, phone, calendar and photo applications, adding a new app to enable users to more efficiently see and comment on their friends' updates as well as update their own status.
To further distinguish the Pixi from the Pre, Palm will introduce the Pixi Artist Series, offering numbered, limited-edition back covers from designers including Cole Gerst, Jeremy Fish and Michelle White. In conjunction with the series, Palm will showcase the Pre during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, beginning Thursday in New York City.
