Palm webOS 1.1 re-enables media sync to iTunes
A week after Apple's iTunes 8.2.1 software update made good on the computing giant's threat to terminate multimedia syncing functionality for non-Apple media players, effectively blocking Palm Pre smartphone owners from syncing their devices to the digital media platform, Palm released its own webOS 1.1 update, which the device maker promises re-enables media sync. "That's right--you once again can have seamless access to your music, photos and videos from the current version of iTunes (8.2.1)," writes Palm VP of business products John Traynor on The Official Palm Blog.
According to Palm, the webOS 1.1 updates focuses primarily on enterprise improvements, enhancing support for Exchange ActiveSync with the additions of remote wipe, PIN/password requirements, inactivity timeout and improved certificate handling. However, there are a handful of general consumer tweaks as well, including emoticons in new text, multimedia and instant messages, accelerated launch of the Photos application and enhanced support for time zones in Clock. webOS 1.1 also introduces Sprint's popular NFL Mobile Live application, as previously indicated by the operator's own support webpage.
