Panic Channel launches mobile video promo
The Panic Channel, the new group formed by former Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro, is using GoTV to produce a three-month mobile video promotion for its debut album. The promotion, facilitated by Retail Entertainment Design, is available to Sprint and Boost Mobile subscribers with video-enabled phones. Content includes exclusive interviews with the band, live performances, behind-the-scenes footage and music videos. All the footage is free of charge and will be refreshed every two weeks.
For Sprint and Boost, this is a great load of content being offered as a free service that will entice subscribers to check out mobile video services otherwise too expensive to experiment with. For Panic Channel--a new band with no existing fan base other than Navarro's star power--it's a brilliant promotional move that exposes their members and music by piggybacking on the curiosity factor of mobile video.
