PBS to launch emergency alert system via mobile DTV

Later this year, PBS will begin testing an emergency broadcast system designed to deliver multimedia alerts to mobile phones, tablets and other connected devices over the ATSC Mobile Digital TV standard. Partners including LG Electronics and Zenith will develop handheld mobile DTV devices to receive the new alerts and supply funding for the initiative.
