Player X, 3 team on 'geekTV'

British operator 3 announced a partnership with mobile media Player X to premiere "geekTV," the carrier's first made-for-mobile television channel. Combining repurposed U.S. primetime content ranging from "Miami Vice" to "American Dad" with original and user-generated content, geekTV targets the sought-after 16-to-24-year-old demographic. "We spent 12 months in making geekTV the force it is, and with O2 launching it as an i-mode channel earlier last year, we're delighted 3 UK has signed up for the streamed version of the channel," Player X CEO Tony Pearce said in a prepared statement. "We are talking to more operators and also to handset manufacturers because we're convinced this channel is an important addition to the mobile content area."
