Polar Mobile raises $6M to launch MediaEverywhere software platform

Tools

Digital media distribution platform provider Polar Mobile has closed a $6 million funding round led by Georgian Partners. The firm previously raised more than $3 million from private investors.

Polar Mobile will leverage the funding to launch its new MediaEverywhere software platform, which the firm describes as an HTML5-based solution designed to simplify content distributions across devices including smartphones, tablets and desktops. MediaEverywhere touts support for both app-based and browser-based media consumption, enabling Polar's media partners to create, design and manage customized user experiences in-house while reducing development time. Polar Mobile will roll out MediaEverywhere later this year.

Polar's existing SMART solution enables media companies including CBS Interactive, Condé Nast, Sports Illustrated and The Wall Street Journal to create custom-branded apps available across iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices. The company boasts partnerships with more than 380 media brands in 12 countries and served over 1.6 billion page views to 11 million users to-date. Polar Mobile also touts commercial agreements with Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Nokia (NYSE:NOK), Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM), Intel and Samsung Electronics.
