Tools

Digital entertainment services firm RealNetworks announced an agreement to acquire casual games syndication company Trymedia from copy-protection and rights-management solutions developer Macrovision. Financial terms were not disclosed. Trymedia, which provides syndication and commerce solutions enabling portals, digital retailers and game developers to distribute their properties across multiple media channels, boasts more than 250 partnerships, including marquee deals with AOL, Yahoo, Telstra and IGN. According to Real, the acquisition furthers its strategy to expand the company's reach via syndicated distribution partnerships. "This acquisition doubles the scale of our syndication business and we are incredibly excited to welcome the Trymedia team," said RealGames senior VP Harold Zeitz in a prepared statement. "Trymedia has been a leader in the digital distribution space, so together we have a full portfolio of syndication services that we can offer partners."
