Report: Again, women dominate mobile gaming

Tools

Days after Telephia's report that found 65 percent of mobile gaming revenue is driven by females, another report, this one from Parks Associates, says women represent 59 percent of all U.S. mobile gamers. Females also make up 61 percent of those who play mobile games one to four hours per month and 58 percent of those who spend more than four hours playing mobile games a month. The research firm says the data is consistent with the demographics for Internet gamers, where females are also the majority. Parks' director John Barrett says "women are the foundation of the gaming market...[but] right now women generally spend little on gaming even though they like to play games often and have disposable income." If mobile gaming revenues are supposed to hit $17.6 billion by 2011, it looks like the gaming sector is going to have to get in touch with its feminine side.
