Report: Off-deck content growth surging

A new report issued by market analysis firm Frost & Sullivan links the growth of off-deck mobile content with accelerating aggregator revenues, forecasting U.S. connection aggregator revenues of $167.6 million by 2011. Citing connectivity as well as additional processes enabling off-deck content distribution and billing services, Frost & Sullivan says connection aggregators are poised for simultaneous growth. According to the report, mobile operators are increasingly open to sharing revenues with other participants in the content value chain, with subscription services contributing to off-deck revenues and resulting in an improved payout for content providers.

"Higher-priced subscription services already contribute the majority of revenues and expect to continue accounting for the largest component of the connection aggregators' revenue pie," said Frost & Sullivan analyst Vikrant Gandhi in a prepared statement. "Apart from providing core services such as connectivity, reporting, settlement and others, [aggregators] can also help the content providers in application development, smart messaging services, storefront development and others. Such services further increase the market opportunity and create additional revenue stream for connection aggregators while helping them compete in the young U.S. off-deck mobile content services markets."

Mobile content is really booming up and up. In future I see strong partnerships of MNOs with big and growing content publishers like Handango.com and Youpark.com. There will be a great rush for Mobile games and applications. Many new services will be in existence those were like a dream few years back.
