Only 30 percent of wireless subscribers report seeing or hearing an advertisement on their mobile phones within the last year, suggesting a dominant mobile advertising model has yet to develop, reports market research firm Harris Interactive in a new study.

According to Harris, 63 percent of mobile users expressed preferences regarding the types of mobile ads they find acceptable: Sponsored text links were most favorably received (26 percent), followed by audio ads (21 percent) and corporate text messages (20 percent). In addition, Harris said 49 percent of mobile users are now employing their handsets for services beyond voice calls--36 percent of respondents send and receive text messages, while 24 percent snap, send and receive photos.
