Report: mobile game usage up 15%
According to mobile metrics firm Telephia, about 13.5 million wireless subscribers in the U.S. downloaded a mobile game in the second quarter, an increase of 15 percent over the same period last year and resulting in a 63 percent jump in average monthly revenues to $46.9 million. Leading the charge was EA Mobile's Tetris, with a 5.1 percent share, Namco's Pac-Man at 3 percent, and EA Mobile's Bejeweled at 2.8 percent. EA Mobile is the clear 800-pound gorilla here, capturing about 30 percent of overall market share in revenues, with Namco and HandsOn Mobile distant followers at 8.4 percent and 8.2 percent, respectively.
