Report: Music trumps video on mobile

Tools

Really no huge surprise here, but streaming music services on mobile phones are capturing more consumer interest than mobile video, according to In-Stat. Interestingly, the group says streaming music also beats out downloadable music; 44 percent of music-phone owners have never added any music files to their devices. However, interest in mobile video is growing, with 14.2 percent of the respondents considered "likely early adopters" of video services.

I'm sure a key factor behind this that music is (1) cheaper, (2) easier and faster to access/stream/download and (3) better quality. Listening to music on your phone via headphones is much more akin to doing the same via an MP3 player than mobile video is to watching TV.
