Tools

Research In Motion released its BlackBerry App World 1.1 software update, promising enhanced performance and application archiving as well as expanding the virtual marketplace to Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Portugal. According to RIM, the new version of BlackBerry App World offers accelerated image and icon loading, giving consumers more efficient access to desired information--BlackBerry App World 1.1 also features improved search capabilities, allowing users to look for either free or paid apps (including Top 25 lists for both) or query by category, including music, games, weather and related subjects. In addition, users can sort results according to most popular apps, newest entries and highest-rated downloads.

BlackBerry App World 1.1 also offers a new Memory Indicator tool illustrating how much device memory is available--when users exceed their limit, a message will appear, offering instructions on how to free up more space. The update additionally enables users to archive applications onto a microSD card.
