Rhapsody America still on hold
Rhapsody America, the mobile music service first announced last August by RealNetworks and MTV Networks, is still several months away from a formal launch, according to RealNetworks chairman and CEO Rob Glaser. Speaking Monday at the Mobile Entertainment Live! event in Las Vegas, Glaser said Rhapsody America will require "about three months longer to launch than expected." Glaser said the decision was predicated in large part on the size and scope of carrier partner Verizon Wireless' device portfolio, with the companies deciding to delay Rhapsody America's debut in order to deliver the services across a wider swath of handsets than originally planned. An official launch date remains unknown.
