RIM adds Deal Finder to eBay for BlackBerry
Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) updated its eBay mobile shopping application for BlackBerry smartphones, adding a new Deal
Finder tool enabling users to compare eBay prices with retail websites like Amazon and Best Buy. Replacing the BlackBerry app's Daily Deal feature, Deal Finder promises shoppers the best discounts on movies, video games, electronics, music and books. Also new: Message integration that synchronizes with message activity on the desktop, BlackBerry shortcuts and improved loading time of shipping details, including shipping rate calculations. The revamped eBay for BlackBerry is available for download via the BlackBerry App World storefront.
eBay's worldwide mobile initiatives remain on track to generate more than $1.5 billion in sales this year, nearly triple the $600 million eBay reported in 2009. Earlier this week, eBay said Black Friday sales in the U.S. across its suite of mobile applications almost doubled over the previous year, with mobile sales increasing 146 percent year-over-year during Nov. 29's Cyber Monday shopping event. Since the introduction of eBay's first mobile application in July 2008, on-the-go consumers have bought or sold nearly 30 million items.
