"Following the release of Grand Theft Auto III for iOS (and Android devices) late last year, the original Max Payne will be our next release for mobile devices," Rockstar reveals on its website. "We will have an official announcement soon confirming the release date, but you can expect it to finally be released sometime in the next couple months."
First introduced for Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows in mid-2001, the film noir-inspired Max Payne follows the title character, a renegade DEA agent and former NYPD officer seeking revenge against the crime syndicate responsible for the death of his family. As of 2011, the franchise has sold more than 7.5 million copies.
