Rumor Mill: Cingular makes friends with MySpace
In an interview with BusinessWeek, Fox Interactive Media chief revenue officer Michael Barrett reveals that parent company News Corp.'s popular social networking website MySpace will go live on a major U.S. carrier within the next few weeks--and while Barrett declined to name the partner in question, all signs point to Cingular Wireless.
Acquired by News Corp. in mid-2005 for $580 million, MySpace is now the Internet's second-largest site, behind Yahoo. A mobile version of MySpace is already available in the U.S. via MVNO service Helio.
