Rumor Mill: Sony BMG to launch MVNO for Christians

Tools

Rumor has it Sony BMG will announce plans to launch an MVNO with Integrity Media, and the companies are strongly considering the Christian evangelist market as the service's niche. An attendee of IQPC's MVNO Summit in Las Vegas this week said Sony BMG executive Marc Herson announced the initial plans during a presentation. The MVNO would focus on Christian retail, mega churches and direct sales. If true, the move is a savvy one. Sony BMG knows as well as anyone how popular Christian music is in this country whether rock, gospel or country. Religion is a ripe niche right now in terms of entertainment, and the recent Christian revival in this country over the past two decades makes the market a likely target for an MVNO. We've seen a lot of religious mobile content stories recently--looks like there's plenty more on the way.
