Tools

Video delivery platform provider Saffron Digital announced an agreement to launch an on-demand service on the new Android-based HTC Desire smartphone. Featuring films from the Warner Bros. library, the service--introduced in cooperation with T-Mobile and HTC--offers consumers who purchase the Desire access to two films from a list of eight titles including Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and The Hangover. Movies will be available for 48 hours, and can be viewed on the Desire device or on a PC. Saffron Digital will make additional Warner features available in the coming months, charging £3.49 ($5.34 U.S.) for new releases and £2.49 ($3.81) for catalogue titles. In addition, Saffron Digital will host a mobile website tied to the HTC Desire promotion, linking consumers to T-Mobile's Saffron-powered VOD+ site, which includes additional films from Warner as well as Paramount Pictures.
