Samsung brings TouchWiz customizable UI to U.S.
Samsung Telecommunications America announced the pending launch of TouchWiz, a customizable user interface making its debut in the U.S. market. The UI--previously available internationally via Samsung handsets including the SGH-F480/TouchWiz and Samsung Omnia--boasts specially designed widgets enabling users to customize and personalize their mobile experience, enabling one-touch access to their favorite applications and features.
TouchWiz organizes widgets within a tray located on the left side of the phone's homescreen; users drag and drop widgets onto the homescreen to instantly access a desired function or service, with preinstalled icons spotlighting the mobile web, music, messaging services, games, search, navigation services and account updates. In addition, Samsung said each phone supporting TouchWiz may include operator-specific widgets for direct access to the carrier's custom services. Samsung expects to introduce several TouchWiz-enabled touchscreen devices to U.S. consumers over the next six months.
