Samsung, SRS ink mobile media optimization deal
Surround sound, audio and voice technologies provider SRS Labs announced a multi-year, multi-technology licensing agreement with Samsung Electronics granting the device maker the use of numerous SRS audio and voice technologies in its mobile phones. Per terms of the deal, Samsung will integrate SRS solutions including SRS Circle Surround Headphone, SRS WOW HD and SRS VIP+ to provide consumers with 5.1 surround sound over headphones, promising an improved user experience that capitalizes on the increasing volume of mobile-optimized multichannel video content.
Samsung and SRS will also target music-only applications by enhancing the audio experience via deeper, richer bass and high-frequency definition. In addition, Samsung will license SRS voice solutions to reduce noise while improving tonal quality and dynamic capabilities, promising real-time adjustments to voice intelligibility processing and overall volume gain.
