Scanbuy extends barcode app to Android
Mobile marketing solutions provider Scanbuy announced its ScanLife multi-barcode reader is now compatible for mobile phones based on Google's Android mobile operating system. The free ScanLife application enables users to scan all major 2D barcode formats (i.e., Datamatrix, EZcode and QR) to automatically display a mobile website, launch a video or dial a phone number, effectively eliminating consumers' need to type lengthy Web addresses or search for content by keywords.
ScanLife for Android also supports traditional UPC barcodes via the camera's auto-focus system, launching comparative pricing and retailer details for that specific product. (T-Mobile's HTC-produced G1, the first Android-based phone, is also the first U.S. device to support this ScanLife feature.)
