Seven operators named in latest class action suit

Tools

The wireless industry faces yet another class-action consumer lawsuit, with six network operators and an MVNO named in a 12-page suit filed in a Mississippi federal court. AT&T, Verizon, Sprint Nextel, Alltel, U.S. Cellular, Cellular South and Virgin Mobile USA are all named in the complaint filed by Jackson, Miss.-based Graves Law Offices, which seeks "recovery against the defendants for unauthorized charges, wrongful collections and unjust enrichment"--specifically, the suit alleges the carriers charged subscribers for unsolicited text messages "without offering customers the opportunity to avoid such charges by opting out of text messaging and refusing to disable customers' text messaging service."
