Shazam Encore bows on the App Store
Mobile music discovery solutions provider Shazam announced the launch of Shazam Encore, promising to make it easier for iPhone and iPod touch users to experience and share new music. According to Shazam, Encore boasts improved speed performance compared to the previous iteration of the app, enabling users to more quickly tag and learn more about their music--in addition, users can discover music similar to tagged tracks and scan charts generated by other consumers. Shazam Encore also includes Drive and Tag, which automatically transitions the solution to car mode whenever the iPhone is placed in an in-car dock so users can still discover what's playing on the radio while driving.
While Shazam will continue to support the existing free Shazam app on the App Store, new users will be limited to five tags per month--the new Encore app will cost $4.99 and offer unlimited tagging. Both apps enable users to send their tags as tweets to their Twitter followers, to their Facebook mini-feed or even as a postcard to friends so they can add the tag to their own Shazam collection and buy the track direct via iTunes.
