Shazam launches free music player app for iOS devices
Mobile discovery solutions provider Shazam is unveiling Shazam Player, a comprehensive music player integrating signature features like LyricPlay streaming lyrics alongside YouTube video clips and social sharing across Facebook and Twitter.
Touted as Shazam's first new mobile application since the 2008 introduction of its signature music discovery solution, the free Shazam Player enables iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users to view their digital music library by artist, album or song title, complete with links to Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iTunes to make it easier to buy new music from favorite artists. Users can manage existing iTunes playlists and create new playlists within the Shazam Player app--the solution also gives users the flexibility to select favorite tracks and hide their least favorites to create a more consistently engaging shuffle experience.
Additional Shazam Player features include Top Tracks, a revolving list of songs with LyricPlay lyrics starting with favorites selected by hitmakers Maroon 5, as well as Track Tray, which spotlights music library metadata alongside all available Shazam features. The music player also boasts the original Shazam App, which identifies music from any audio source by running clips through the company's database to find an exact match. More than 165 million consumers across 200 countries now use the existing Shazam service.
