Sirius XM Radio app expands to Android

Tools

Satellite radio service provider Sirius XM announced the launch of a free mobile application enabling users with Android smartphones to access more than 120 channels of exclusive sports, talk and commercial-free music. Available for free in conjunction with a premium subscription to the Sirius XM radio service, the Android app is optimized for both cellular and WiFi networks, and offers subscribers features like Favorites bookmarking functionality as well as a Lookaround view offering information on what's playing across the channel lineup. Sirius XM adds the application is compatible with a variety of Android-powered devices including Motorola's Droid, HTC's Droid Incredible and Droid Eris, and Google Nexus One models. Upon downloading the free app, users can also register for a seven-day free trial to Sirius XM Premium Online.

Like previous Sirius XM apps for the iPhone and BlackBerry platforms, the Android solution does not include signature attractions like The Howard Stern Show and play-by-play coverage of the National Football League, Major League Baseball and NASCAR, presumably because of licensing rights.
