Skyfire 3.0 for Android adds Facebook integration

Tools

Mobile web solutions developer Skyfire launched its Skyfire 3.0 browser for Android smartphones, integrating Facebook Connect directly into the SkyBar toolbar. In addition to enabling users to efficiently access updates and videos from their Facebook friends, the free Skyfire browser (optimized for devices running Android 2.0 and up) incorporates Facebook's Social Graph and Like Button onto every mobile web page--users can "Like" or share content with a single click and identify the most popular content on a given site. Recommendations from friends are prioritized and show up at the top of the list. Also new: OneTouch Search, allowing users to enter a single search term to query Google, Facebook, VideoSurf, Digg, Twitter or Amazon without navigating to separate sites.

According to Skyfire, more than 2 million Android users now use its browser. Last week, the firm said it will halt support for its legacy v1.0 browser for Windows Mobile and Symbian smartphones as of Dec. 31--moving forward, Skyfire will focus on its 2.0 browser solution, which touts full support for HTML5, offline browsing, JavaScript, WebKit and full-screen video.
