Tools

Mobile browser developer Skyfire announced its 1.0 version is now available for free download, adding that more than a million subscribers have now downloaded the browser since its debut five months ago. Skyfire--named one of 2008's top mobile apps by FierceMobileContent--promises a PC-like experience on mobile devices, enabling consumers to watch web videos and live events, share web pages instantly and use the full-featured PC versions of their favorite websites. New improvements in Skyfire 1.0 include enhanced navigation, zooming and interaction as well as faster launch, power optimization and new search functionality.

Skyfire currently runs on more than 70 percent of smartphones, including support for HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Palm, Samsung and Sony Ericsson devices. Skyfire adds it recently launched a private closed alpha program for the BlackBerry platform, and will announce plans for a public BlackBerry beta at a later date.
