Skyfire names ex-Travelocity exec Glueck to CEO post

Tools

Mobile browser developer Skyfire announced the appointment of Jeffrey Glueck as CEO. Glueck previously served as chief marketing officer with online travel services provider Travelocity, leading the firm's branding, customer experience, business development and advertising model efforts. He was also responsible for the introduction of the Travelocity Guarantee and the company's Roaming Gnome ad campaign. With Glueck's arrival, Skyfire co-founder Nitin Bhandari will shift to the chief product officer role, where he will spearhead efforts to create a next-generation user experience and expand the Skyfire platform for co-branded mobile apps and video apps.

Skyfire announced in late May that its 1.0 version is now available for free download, adding that more than a million subscribers have now downloaded the browser since its debut. Skyfire--named one of 2008's top mobile apps by FierceMobileContent--promises a PC-like experience on mobile devices, enabling consumers to watch web videos and live events, share web pages instantly and use the full-featured PC versions of their favorite websites. Skyfire currently runs on more than 70 percent of smartphones, including support for HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Palm, Samsung and Sony Ericsson devices.
