Sling Media in talks with Apple

Tools

Consumer electronics software developer Sling Media and computing giant Apple have reportedly discussed a deal to stream iTunes music and video to Apple's forthcoming iPhone device via the Slingbox, which transmits digital media from set-top boxes to Web-enabled devices. During a panel discussion at this week's National Association of Broadcasters conference, Sling Media CEO Blake Krikorian said he has spoken to Apple about the streaming initiative, but declined to offer additional details.

"I think the question for [Apple] is going to be, how are they going to phase the [iPhone] out?" Krikorian said, according to a posting at CNET News. "There's been some talk about whether it's going to be a closed device or...open, or whether they'll phase it [out], so I think it's going to be up to them to see when [streaming] might be available. But I cannot comment any more than that."
