Content placeshifting technology developer Sling Media announced it will optimize its SlingPlayer Mobile software for Research in Motion's BlackBerry smartphone platform. SlingPlayer Mobile enables consumers to view their home television via Internet-connected devices and mobile platforms including Windows Mobile, Palm OS and Symbian OS--Sling Media made the RIM announcement in conjunction with next week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and said it will release SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry later this year. "SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry has been a top customer request since we launched the original Slingbox Classic in 2005, and being a BlackBerry addict myself I am particularly excited about this announcement," said Sling Media co-founder, chairman and CEO Blake Krikorian in a prepared statement.
