SlingPlayer lets subscribers stream live and recorded to their mobile device.

SlingPlayer gives subscribers the flexibility to stream live and recorded TV content from their home entertainment system to their mobile device. This latest iteration, available for tablets running Android 3.0 or higher, leverages the enhanced performance, screen resolution and video quality of the tablet format, also delivering a revamped program guide allowing users to browse content choices while continuing to watch their current program. SlingPlayer for Android Tablets also touts custom on-screen remote controls that mimic the home viewing experience.

SlingPlayer for Android Tablets is available for download from Google's Android Market for $29.99. Sling Media adds that its app for Android smartphones will continue to work on tablets in Compatibility Mode at no extra charge, but it warns that consumers will not enjoy the improved video resolution exclusive to the tablet version.

EchoStar purchased Sling Media for $380 million in September 2007. EchoStar--an early Sling Media investor--operates the Dish Network direct-to-home satellite TV service.
