Sonic Solutions teams with Widevine on mobile movie streaming

Digital media technologies provider Sonic Solutions will collaborate with digital rights management and video optimization solutions firm Widevine to expand mobile movie services across an array of smartphones and connected devices including the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry platforms. Sonic Solutions' RoxioNow entertainment platform will integrate Widevine DRM and adaptive streaming technologies to enable secure, device-optimized delivery of feature films and related video content to mobile products--the firms expect to introduce support for new devices by the upcoming holiday season.

Sonic Solutions powers digital entertainment services for companies including Best Buy, Blockbuster, Dell, HP, Kmart, Lionsgate, and Sears. RoxioNow already offers support for handsets running Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system as well as all DivX Certified portable devices.
