Sony, Comcast to launch horror network
Comcast and Sony Pictures Entertainment have teamed up to launch a multi-platform, horror television network on Halloween, October 31, 2006. The television network and online content will launch the same day, but the wireless platform will go live at a later date. The companies announced their plans for the new ad-supported network at the NCTA National Show. The horror genre grosses more than $1 billion a year and has a growing fan base in the coveted 18- to 34-year-old demographic. The offering will feature film and TV contemporary thrillers, suspense dramas, horror titles and more. Details of the wireless component are lacking from the press release: "[The offering] will debut on video on demand and the Internet at launch, and will add a wireless platform in the future."
