Sony Ericsson introduces social media management tools

Tools

Sony Ericsson announced the launch of its Xperia X10 smartphone, which boasts a new user experience platform highlighted by a series of social media management applications. According to Sony Ericsson, the Xperia X10's UX platform builds on top of the device's open OS to integrate social media services and a rich graphical user interface. The first in a series of planned signature applications includes Timescape, which manages all of a user's communication with one person in one place to enable browsing across Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails and texts. The X10 also introduces Mediascape, which accesses music, photos and videos from contacts and favorite artists alike--Sony Ericsson notes that Mediascape pulls together content from the phone as well as its PlayNow portal and websites like YouTube.

Both Mediascape and Timescape include intelligence capabilities that automatically recognize connections between contacts, content and media, recommending alternative ways to communicate and suggesting new media experiences. In addition, face recognition features identify up to five individuals in any picture, automatically connecting them to the device's social phonebook and all other related communications with that person.
