Sony Pictures draws up Animax Mobile
Sony Pictures Television International announced the launch of Animax Mobile, a dedicated wireless version of its Japanese anime channel. Animax Mobile, first rolling out in Canada on Bell Mobility and in Australia on 3, targets the 14-to-34 demographic with a two-hour loop of four full-length anime series--"Blood+," "Last Exile," "R.O.D." and "The Count of Monte Cristo"--in addition to unique interstitial material, made-for-mobile trivia elements and short-form series like "Petey and Jadey."
"It's not about the big screen vs. the little screen," said Sony Pictures Television International VP of mobile network programming Bill Sanders in a prepared statement. "Often, it's a choice of small screen vs. no screen at all, and with Animax Mobile, we're able to bring some of Animax's most valuable programs to fans new and old at times and in places where they couldn't see them before."
