Sony slashing PSPgo game prices to compete with iPhone

Tools

Sony is poised to cut prices of games for its forthcoming PSPgo handheld device to between $1.00 and $7.00 in an effort to compete head-to-head with Apple's iPhone. Pocket Gamer reports Sony is looking to keep PSPgo download prices low the face of criticisms over the device's expected $250 retail price--the reduced pricing structure also offers incentive for smaller game developers to program for the PSPgo platform, although Sony has not yet announced how it will divide revenues with developer partners. Pocket Gamer adds that Sony is actively pursuing iPhone developers to port their games to PSPgo. Over 50 developers have been signed up to create content for the existing PSP and PSPgo, scheduled to debut at retail on Oct. 1.
