SPOTLIGHT: China set to spend billions for 3G upgrade
China said it will spend billions over the next several years to upgrade its wireless networks to 3G. After years of deliberation, China is set to start awarding 3G licenses to operators in the country during the next six months. Analysts expect users in the country to take up MoCo services much faster than in other parts of the world. Last year Chinese sent nearly 329 billion SMS.
