Sprint Football Live app touts NFL, college pigskin coverage
After relinquishing its exclusive National Football League sponsorship deal to rival Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ), Sprint (NYSE:S) launched the new Sprint Football Live application, promising subscribers pro and college pigskin content highlighted by live broadcasts of all seven Notre Dame home games courtesy of NBC Sports Mobile. Sprint's accompanying press release takes great pains to stress that Football Live is free with its Everything Data plan "unlike some other wireless carriers, which charge extra for data and up to $10 a month additional for video"--alongside NBC's Fighting Irish broadcasts, the app also boasts unspecified live college simulcasts via ESPN Mobile TV as well as exclusive NFL-themed content like video blogs from heralded Detroit Lions rookie Ndamukong Suh, NBC game analyst Cris Collinsworth and CBS analyst Charley Casserly.
Additional highlights of Sprint Football Live include real-time Game Center stats, scoring summaries and related updates spanning all pro and collegiate action; news and analysis from sources including the Associated Press, ProFootballTalk.com, Yahoo Sports, Rivals.com and SB Nation; and Team Pages unique to all 32 NFL franchises and 120 NCAA squads. Sprint Football Live also features fantasy gamer content like live ESPN programming, insight from CBS Sports.com and Fantasy Sports Ventures, and customizable player alerts.
