Sprint in talks with Sling Media

Tools

Sprint Nextel is currently in talks with Sling Media to beef up its mobile video offerings. Sling Media sells a controversial "place shifting" video streaming gadget called the Sling Box that allows users to access their home TV and DVR from a remote laptop or mobile device. Sprint executive Paul Reddick admits the company is in talks with the company, but stresses that nothing is definite and that Sprint is talking to Sony and Orb Networks, too. Sprint is looking for companies to improve the quality of its web clips, but Reddick says the Sling Box "might be helpful to us." Reddick also says Sprint would consider bankrolling original movies designed for the small screen.
