Sprint kicks off live soccer coverage

Tools

Sprint announced it will offer full-length live streaming mobile coverage of soccer's upcoming 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament, taking place July 3 through July 26. Sprint is an official sponsor of the tournament, the primary competition of the men's national soccer teams governed by the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football, the continent-wide governing body for football in North America, Central America and the Caribbean--the event, a prelude to the 2010 World Cup, will span 13 venues across the U.S., culminating in the championship match at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Sprint and partner Univision Movil will offer live mobile TV coverage of Gold Cup matches as well as video highlights, text alerts featuring results, game reminders and team news, and related mobile content like ringtones, screensavers and fight songs. Sprint also will team with Mexican soccer legend Luis Roberto Alves (a.k.a."Zague") for pre-game events in some U.S. cities.
