Sprint launches The N Mobile
MTV Networks' teen-oriented cable channel The N announced a partnership with Sprint to deliver video content from its top programs to mobile handsets. The N Mobile, the channel's first venture into wireless content distribution, will launch on the Sprint Vision and Power Vision networks with a spate of clips, shorts and behind-the-scenes content from top-rated series including "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "South of Nowhere" and "Behind the Break."
"Launching The N Mobile on Sprint is a natural evolution of our overall multiple platform strategy as we continue to produce, program and distribute content on different platforms to super serve our audiences," MTVN Kids and Family Group VP Paul Jelinek said in a prepared statement. "Teens are increasingly on the go and some of the heaviest of wireless users. We are now able to provide them with a new way to interact with their favorite personalities and programming from the network, to further extend The N experience beyond the home."
On-air since April 1, 2002, The N broadcasts daily from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. EST, splitting time with fellow MTV arm Noggin, which broadcasts series for preschoolers. The N is presently available in 52 million households via cable and satellite.
