Sprint moves on apartment-finder service

Sprint announced an agreement with location-based services provider Smarter Agent to launch Smarter Agent Apartments for Rent, a GPS-enabled navigation and location service that delivers housing data to subscribers without entry of address or zip code information. Apartments for Rent offers Sprint subscribers information including rental prices, unit and building amenities and pet policies; some listings also feature interior photos and floor plans. Property information is provided by Internet listing service Apartments.com.

"Customers are increasingly coming to rely on our powerful networks and GPS technology to provide navigation and location tools on their Sprint phones," Sprint director of wireless data applications George Ranallo said in a prepared statement. "With applications like Apartments for Rent, Sprint is giving customers the power to use GPS in even more ways to quickly and easily get personalized information on the device they always have with them."
