The Sprint Mobile Controls dashboard breaks down voice and text messages by time of day, enabling parents to see who their children are contacting and how often. Parents can then remotely lock the phone at specific times (e.g., during school hours), allowing kids to override all restrictions in case of emergency. Users can also establish an allowed list of numbers from which their child can receive calls or texts, view the apps downloaded to their phone, select up to three anytime apps accessible even when the handset is locked, and set alert notifications for when children make new contacts or communicate with Watchlist contacts.

Sprint Mobile Controls is available on all Sprint Android smartphones for $4.99 per month per line and includes a 30-day free trial. Sprint will roll out the service to BlackBerry devices and other operating systems in the months ahead.

Sprint and Location Labs previously teamed for motorist safety application Drive First. The complementary solution also enables parents to configure their teens' mobile phones via the web--Drive First can lock the driver's device screen and redirect all incoming calls to voicemail, as well as block text alerts and mail an automated response to the sender indicating that the recipient is presently unavailable. Drive First also can allow access to three key contacts and three apps, for example navigation tools.
