Starbucks extends mobile payment app to Android
Starbucks expanded its in-store payment solution to the Android platform, enabling consumers to pay for coffee via smartphone, manage their Starbucks Card account, reload their card balance and locate nearby locations. In addition, the company plans to roll out m-payment services to almost 1,000 locations inside the Safeway supermarket chain. Starbucks launched mobile payment services across its 6,800 company-operated U.S. stores and over 1,000 Target locations in January--at that time, the solution supported only iPhone and BlackBerry users.
