Study: Consumers unaware m-commerce services exist
Subscribers are keen to access mobile commerce services but are often unaware these applications already exist, according to a new consumer survey issued by wireless communities and consumer services provider BuzzCity. The study, conducted with users on BuzzCity's myGamma portal, reports that 51 percent of respondents say they would use their mobile handsets for financial services if such services were available in their area, with 37 percent requesting access to money transfers and remittance services. Consumers would also consider ordering groceries, paying restaurant tabs and parking fees via mobile, and 12 percent wish to purchase movie and travel tickets. On the plus side, one in five respondents said they've previously purchased items via mobile device, with books, downloads and virtual gifts leading the way. According to BuzzCity CEO KF Lai, greater m-commerce awareness hinges on marketers sharing more product-related information on the mobile web.
