Sybase 365 expands m-banking services

Tools

Messaging interoperability and content management firm Sybase 365 announced the availability of its mobile banking services to financial institutions across the Americas, extending its reach from the Asian and European markets. The Sybase 365 service enables banks to interact with customers in real-time via SMS alerts, marketing campaigns and two-way banking services, enabling consumers to conduct transactions like balance inquiries without tapping costly customer care resources.

Sybase 365 also commissioned a mobile banking survey across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil that determined 66 percent of mobile subscribers in the Americas are interested in services that allow them to check bank account balances via mobile devices. The survey also found 63 percent of overall respondents cited security as a primary concern about online banking. Sybase 365 promises financial institutions an additional layer of security by facilitating two-factor authentication, issuing a one-time PIN, via SMS, to validate account access or authorize transactions.

"The study highlights that consumers in the Americas are open to the idea of mobile banking, which creates an opportunity for financial institutions to open another channel of communication with customers while increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty," said Marty Beard, Sybase 365 president. "As mobile banking becomes increasingly popular, the range of services will expand and adoption of mobile banking will experience rapid growth."
