Sybase 365 reaches one trillion mobile messages milestone

Mobile information solutions provider Sybase 365 announced it has processed more than a trillion mobile messages since introducing its first SMS interoperability messaging hub in 2001. According to Sybase 365, one trillion messages are equivalent to processing roughly 32,000 messages per second for every second in a calendar year. The company adds it now processes an average of more than 1.5 billion mobile messages each day, noting that while it required about eight years to hit the trillion message mark, the next trillion should follow in 2012.

Sybase 365 credited the continued growth of mobile messaging services to both the consumer and enterprise segments. The firm's Global Consumer Acceptance and Usage Report 2010 indicates that 70 percent of consumers are interested in additional mobile services.
