Sybase acquires m-banking solutions firm paybox

Tools

Enterprise software and services company Sybase--parent of mobile messaging solutions provider Sybase 365--announced its acquisition of mobile payment solutions developer paybox Solutions. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. According to Sybase, integration of paybox's solutions will enable Sybase 365 to offer mobile operators, financial institutions and merchants a full suite of m-payment solutions offering customers the tools to conduct person-to-person remittances, pay for goods and services, replenish their mobile airtime and pay bills via mobile device. Founded in 1999, paybox boasts mobile payment solution deployments across Europe, North and South America, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

The paybox deal bolsters the existing Sybase mBanking 365 product suite, launched in late 2007. Sybase mBanking 365 promises real-time interaction between banks and customers via mobile alerts, two-way banking services, out-of-band authentication and marketing. Sybase mBanking 365 also guarantees secure and direct interaction across the SMS, WAP and rich client channels, delivering services including account activity alerts and balance inquiries.
